Conservation at Long Lane Farm

At Long Lane Farm, we believe great food starts with healthy soil and thriving ecosystems. Our family has farmed this land for three generations, and every decision we make is about leaving the farm better than we found it.

    • No-till on 110 acres:

We practice no-till farming on 110 acres of corn and soybeans. This builds soil organic matter, protects underground fungal networks, and captures carbon naturally.

    • Diverse forests:

Our 83 acres of hardwood forest store carbon and support wildlife diversity. We actively manage invasive species and allow natural regeneration.

    • Rotational grazing on 14 acres:

Our Mangalitsa pigs are rotationally grazed, which means they move frequently to fresh pasture. This prevents overgrazing, spreads manure evenly, and builds rich soil.

    • Access to woods for natural foraging:

The pigs enjoy wooded areas where they eat acorns, walnuts, roots, and plants, producing pork with unmatched flavor and marbling.

    • Long-term raising:

It takes us up to 18 months to raise our heritage pigs properly—slower growth, better life, and better meat.

  • We protect streams and ponds with vegetative buffers, heavy-use pads, and managed sacrifice areas in wet weather. These practices reduce runoff and protect downstream water.

    • Solar installation (upcoming):

We’re installing on-farm solar and battery storage to offset our energy use and power our operations.

    • EV & Cybertruck:

Our new Cybertruck and EV charging station allow us to reduce emissions from farm transportation.

  • When you purchase our heritage pork, you’re supporting practices that:

    • Store more carbon in the soil each year

    • Keep water clean for wildlife and future generations

    • Build resilience for the farm, animals, and our community

    • Produce premium-quality meat with unmatched flavor
